Hiatus Project 2.0
Its that time of year again folks, Last night SGU’s mid season finale aired in the US, on Friday it airs in Canada and next Tuesday it airs in the UK – its Hiatus Project time!
For those that don’t know what the Hiatus Project is yet, where have you been? The Hiatus Project is a live chat that runs during the SGU mid season hiatus where fans, as well as the occasional cast and crew member come along to discuss the episodes, characters and generally get their SGU fix while the show isn’t airing.

Now, a few logistical bits first
The Hiatus Project ran on a Friday (when SGU would be airing) and that worked great, people attending the chat were at the end of their working week, some had a few drinks and generally it was a nice start to everybody’s weekend, so when the show moved to Tuesdays – we we’re a little concerned about breaking that tradition, we figured the best way to handle it was to not change at all – so the Hiatus Project will be keeping SGU’s old (and hopefully future) Friday timeslot warm during the winter
Secondly, timing – when the show moved to Tuesdays it ended up completing its 10 episode run quicker than last season (no Thanksgiving break ect) so the Hiatus ends up being a few weeks longer, left with the prospect of starting in the second week of December running for one week then going off for two (Christmas Eve and NYE respectively) we have opted to not start the Hiatus Chats until January 7th
I know there are those of you out there who wont be happy about the delay, but in the long term it works out for the better – nobody has to miss any shows because of Christmas related activities, we don’t take random breaks in our run of chats and by the beginning of January there isn’t much of an excuse for not seeing all 10 episodes of 2.0 (last year our chatters were from US, UK, Canada and Australia mostly, by Jan 7th all have had the chance to see all 10 episodes)
So starting January 7th and running through every Friday until the show returns from Hiatus we’ll be running our live chats, complete with our usual crowd of moderators and our standard invitation to our friends on the cast and crew of SGU as well as all of you.
Why are we telling you a month in advance? Well the Hiatus Project works on word of mouth, so you guys now have a month to get your friends interested, shoot a tweet off to your favourite member of the SGU cast/crew to invite them along (previous guests include Brian J Smith, Josh Blacker, Herb Sommerfeld, Patrick Gilmore & the VFX wizard that is Mark Savela)
For those of you who have been following SGUAwareness and attending their chats, those are slated to finish on December 7th but the same SGUAwareness guys will be in attendance of the Hiatus Project chats come the new year so please, feel free to come along (although the topics of discussion are related to episode content and character development more so than ratings and renewal)
